New pieces aren’t glued down yet, but it’s looking better :) Need a bittttt more sculpey to do the long parts of the tunic, but I think this is a good go :3
-
Belt buckle 95% done, plain ring done. :) More armor pieces tomorrow~
-
Definitely short on “plates,” and, “I need a really good sports bra” the musical xD
-
Got the “jewel” bits done :) Obviously not glued yet, as I’ve gotta paint the buckle tomorrow.
-
Sleeves glued :) I might have to do some spot gluing, but I think they look good! Belt buckle in the home stretch, I’ll spray paint tomorrow.
-
One sleeve completely glued, only had enough of the small pieces for the first two rows of the second. Time to get to work. :)
-
Basic idea for the sleeves :) Not glued down yet, just wanted to eyeball it :3 Definitely don’t have enough of the little scales, gotta make more tomorrow. Hopefully I have enough pewter sculpey left to make the rest.

Getting JUST enough patch orders to make it a bit difficult to work on my costume stuff. Thusly, I hauled in the Kenmore. As much as I love the Admiral, it weighs a ton, and the Kenmore has more finishing stitches.
In other news, there’s so much gesso on my belt buckle that it can be smelled a mile away xD
-
Spent most of the day making Etsy patch orders, but got the rest of my belt sculpey pieces made, and the belt buckle cut and Worbla-ed. :3 The detail on it will be layers of Worbla as well, but I wanted to get the base shape done.
Tomorrow I’ll go bother Jules for a bit, then probably work on the brigandine in the evening. :3 Monday I’ll probably be sewing as well~

So, Thorin’s velvet over-tunic has a distinct design on it, which appears to have been done with the devoré technique. But since I’m not buying two fibered velvet I’d have to dye and chemically treat to pull it off, I decided on quilting the design.
Right before I started, I had another idea to fake the burnout, and took a tiny electric detail razor to the velvet. You can see the test in the bottom left of the tunic.
My question to you all is, should I do the razor burnout to the whole thing? It would add the color contrast, and give me the opportunity to make some of these quilted lines look straight (my eyes were starting to cross, and I’m only about 1/3 done with the back piece xD;)
…but I honestly don’t know. Any opinion would be appreciated.
:)

Velvet fire not as awesome as I had hoped. Quilting sounds like a better option.

Christmas time at our house this year means steamcleaning the carpet. I couldn’t sew today because my stuff is on a oak island in the center of soggy carpet :<
On the plus side, my old Sony Vaio, which had been passed on to intergalacticju, does appear to be alive again. My dad found some brand new compatible RAM sticks buried in his desk, and they appear to have done the trick. Until I accidentally used an OEM WinXP disk to fix a retail install. Now the computer won’t activate. ^^; Ah well, XP installs all around~ -
Just because a sewing machine is old doesn’t mean it’s valuable. For the guy trying to sell a older Pfaff that sells in the $100 range on Ebay for almost $1000 on Craigslist because you claim it’s rare…
good luck with that
For the lady I called yesterday about a hour too late for the Singer Featherweight that she had posted incredibly underpriced because she didn’t know what she had:
I hope you didn’t get talked down too much from the buyer xD;
Also, New Home, you made some awesome looking sewing cabinets back in the day
Alsoalso, found another okay priced Featherweight while looking at ads, I need to stop looking I’m broke xD;
and I need to stop looking at sewing machines on Craigslist and go to bed.

I never can find annnything. Pulled out the sewing machine case set and cleaned out around it. Discovered my bag of machine needles, the majority of my ribbon, and the bag of sewing stuff I took to Japan.
Someday, I will have a craft room where I can nicely organize this shit :[
